I hope you are ready for a rooting-tooting good time because I've got a real treat for you today. I'm happy to tell you about one of the most enjoyable new EPs I've spun in a while from an artist who's proof you're never too old to follow your dreams. Strap on your spurs, we're riding on over to The Cumberland River Project's "Vain Regrets."

Now, this project is the brainchild of singer-songwriter Frank Renfordt. At over 60 years young, this former steelworker from Germany picked up his guitar late in life and hasn't looked back since. After cutting his teeth in Nashville and releasing a couple of full-length albums, Frank's back with a new six-song EP just brimming with that authentic country charm we all love.

"In Line" starts off the album with an upbeat tempo and Frank's smooth vocals. It's the perfect way to kick off an album. Next up is "Old Friend," which fastens things more than just a hair but keeps that rootsy country vibe flowing with some lovely Fiddlework.

"Wish I Could Have Told You" is sure to hit the spot. Frank pours his heart into this bittersweet melody. The gentle acoustic guitar had me feeling downright melancholy. The next song "Mr. Spaceman" really gets your energy back. I bet you'll be singing and tapping your foot with a smile.

Now, "House on the Cliffs" took me by surprise and I’ll tell you why. It starts sweet and tender but builds into something much bigger. There are layers of sound that accompany me on my journey. Speaking of layers, "Sweet Freedom" is a song with plenty of them. The intricate instrumentation and soulful lyrics gave me goosebumps.

We’ve come to the end of our journey learning about The Cumberland River Project and his album "Vain Regrets". I hope you all enjoyed getting to know a little more about Frank Renfordt and hearing some of his talent through my descriptions of the songs. Discovering artists is one of my favorite parts of being a music lover. And I just knew Frank's style would be right up your alley too. So don't forget to search him out on those streaming sites! His songs are just begging for a listen. Maybe hearing this album will inspire some of you to try chasing your dreams too. It's never too late to go after what's in your heart.
